My DD is working on her essay and one portion has to do with gymnastics. She uses the word “kip” in reference to getting up on the uneven parellel bars. This is the technical term used for that move. My concern is that a reader will not know what that means, or possibly think she meant to type the word “kick”. It’s the only technical type term she uses in the whole essay and her inclination is to leave it as is or possibly asterik it and put an explanation at the bottom. Any thoughts?? Thanks.

Put it in italics or quotations. Can you give us the sentence? I mean, it should be pretty obvious that she’s referring to a kip.
