My third guess is what WordleBot would have done in my situation, and it only left one word remaining, though I had to double-check that it was a Wordle word, as it’s not one that I would have thought would be in the petite Wordle lexicon. WordleBot and I both solved today’s puzzle in four.

ETA: After reading @AustenNut ’s mention of checking the Wordle list of possible words… do most people check the word list? I never have so I’m sure I often try words not part of the Wordle dictionary.

I got incredibly lucky with my second guess - made it easy to solve in three based on the yellow letters I got. Otherwise, I think I would have gone down the rabbit hole had a chosen a different second word!

I’ll occasionally check free dictionary “words that start with” or “words that end with.” It is usually when I have three or four letters and I can’t seem to figure out what the missing letter is. I don’t think I’ve ever looked up Wordle words on free dictionary but occasionally use it for obscure words in Octordle, Sedecordle and Duotrigordle.
Edit: It bothers me when the puzzles use words like fibre or very old spellings of modern words.

I think I was complaining after using WordleBot and seeing that some of my guesses weren’t official words when someone asked me why I didn’t just check. I don’t always check, but if it’s a word that I think is iffy, then I will.
