I’m in a position in which participating in Work Study during the school year would significantly help pay for my tuition in terms of percentage. However, I was wondering if any current students knew anyone that was having trouble managing time between work, school (Engineering in particular), social life, and possibly outside research and other extracurricular activities.

The ones who experience difficulty are those who overextend themselves. The workload in the Engineering school is intense, so you might want to start out small and increase your involvement once you learn how to deal with college.

I have a friend in Eng. who had work study/needed to work and wanted to do research…so she 2 birds with one stone and found a lab job that paid. She also does the solar decathalon and plays club water polo. You can have a social life too…you may not be going out every weekend…but you will have fun.
