Work Study

Can I apply for work study positions during the summer? I’ve been trying to search for them, but their website is pretty complicated and confusing me. It says I have to personally deliver some form to the college adviser?

Can anyone help me on this? Links to job positions/applications/info?

If you are a new student, you have to go to wasserman career center and get some paperwork in order for work study. I would give them a call and see what needs to be done.

Milkandsugar - do you know about what the hourly wage is on work study jobs? Are taxes and SS held out?

My daughters work study job pays 8.00 /hr. Some might pay a little bit more. I dont recall taxes being taken out, but SS was.

The wage depends on the job itself. Students typically get paid between $8 - $15 per hour, though I have seen jobs posted for more or less.

To apply for a work study job, you must first be granted work-study funds in your financial aid (it will indicate the amount you may earn).

To apply for jobs, visit the Wasserman Center to register for NYU CareerNet; then you can search for and apply for jobs through this website: [Wasserman Center for Career Development](<a href=“Career Development and Jobs”>Career Development and Jobs) You can specify your search to look for jobs On-Campus, Off-Campus, in a specific industry, etc.

Once you’re hired, fill out the On-Campus Student Employee form here: [Wasserman Center for Career Development - On Campus Student Employment](<a href=“Career Development and Jobs”>Career Development and Jobs) for students who have not worked on campus before. You will need to get the form signed by someone at Wasserman, and also by your supervisor.

Good luck.
