A school gave me a full ride minus 2.5k which will be covered by government funding. The financial aid package does not mention a work study but I am eligible for it at another school where I have to take out loans. So will I be eligible for work study at the first school?

You have to have unmet need to be eligible for possible W-S.

Since you say that you’re getting nearly a free ride and the rest is covered with some kind of gov’t aid, it sounds like you don’t have any need at THAT school. (What is that "gov’t funding? Pell Grants?)

I meant state specific funding will cover the unmet cost, presumably. So I guess I won’t be work-studying?

Just because you aren’t eligible for government subsidized work study does not preclude you from getting a job on campus and earning money. The only difference is the employer is paying your full wage. Look for a job site on the college web site.
