Working as an Enrolled Agent = Good for Finance?

I’m a sophomore in college right now, and the place i do internship at offered me to take an EA exam (Enrolled Agent exam). From what i know, EA is something similar to CPA, except EA is Federally licensed, meaning EAs are permitted to prepare income tax anywhere in the nation.

I know this is more of an Accounting job, but my career plan is to pursue a Financial Consultant path. Would being an EA/licensed Tax Preparer help me with my path?
