I just received a job offer from Dynamic Edge, which seems to be some sort of consulting firm company. I posted my resume on Careerbuilder and that’s how they found me. However, I only have experience working in retail for 1.5 years, and they said they want to offer me a management position. My friend says that I will have to go door to door to advertise products. I am not even exactly sure what this company is, and what I would have to do. My interview is scheduled on Monday. I have received many job offers like this from other financial and insurance companies, all of which seemed pretty shady.
What should I do now? Should I just go anyway or forget about it? This seems so strange, and I wouldn’t want to waste my time.
Google is your friend. Have you tried that? Here is one site with employee reviews: https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Dynamic-Edge-Reviews-E233105.htm
It sounds like you have been invited to interview for a job. It is good to do research to prepare for the interview. Your first sentence says you have received the job offer already, which is confusing.
Yeah, I did try to Google it, of course. But I still didn’t quite get what it does. All I found is that it’s a marketing and consulting company. Apparently they are hiring an account manager.
I did read those reviews already, quite a mixed bag. My friend says the good reviews are lies that employers posted to boost the rating. I’ve seen this before, so maybe she has a point. And it doesn’t seem like this job would fit my college schedule. Sounds like a full time job.
So I decided to not get the job, and I wouldn’t have business attire to wear, anyway. Should I call them to abandon the interview, or should I just ignore it and not show up? How do I politely decline them, or give a good reason?
I would call and say, “I decided not to attend the interview. My plans changed.” That’s all you need to say.
