Working while in college (on campus)?

Last year when I was a freshman, I worked at the dining hall and then moved to another food place on campus when the semesters changed. I then moved to the sports department this year and it’s so much better for my major. (Physical Activity and Fitness Management) I currently work with the sports teams and I’m basically the ball boy. I also set up and clean up before and after games.

So, where do you work? And if you don’t have a job while in college, would you ever want to work while managing your classes?

I do understand if it’s your freshman year and you need some time to adjust, but maybe down the road after you get used to college. But IMO, I do recommend working while attending college on campus because of the money and experience.

I am a college senior majoring in CS and Math, with minors in music and dance . Since my second semester freshman year, I have been a CS grader for primilarly sophomore level CS courses. I typically do 1-2 courses a semester (currently doing 2, the one I usually grade, plus a math for CS majors course), and have also graded intro once, as well as an upper level course as a junior. My job entails grading and providing meaningful feedback/corrections to students on HW, labs, and/or programming projects, depending on the needs of the professor. I love it because it’s basically like being a TA who never has to actually interact with the students (the students aren’t supposed to know who the grader even is- there’s separate lab assistants and tutors to help them in and outside of class), and I can do it anywhere, such as in my dorm room. I also was asked starting this semester to be the conductor’s assistant for one of the music ensembles I’m in. Essentially, I get paid to set up and tear down the stage before and after rehearsal.
