The qualifiers are almost over. After tonight, only the barrage games will separate us from knowing the full roster of participating teams. A few strong nations will not make it, and a few mediocre teams will make it to please the globalists who also decided that Qatar was worthy of hosting the biggest sporting event on earth.

If the we in the running refers to the US soccer team, the answer is … the team has already qualified. And so has Costa Rica. Honduras, Mexico, and Panama will fight it out for the direct third spot and the deciding game against … New Zealand for the fourth spot. Only two teams in that final group earn a lollypop.

Mexico has been horrendous but they got extremely lucky in their last game against Panama. A poor technical control resulted in a high ball and an amazing bicycle kick that magically found the back of the net.

Good thing Mexico won that, they are running out of coaches to fire.

We saw the Mexico game in Columbus last month, and the Jamaica game in KC last week. The main thing I noticed at both (besides the score) is that it was a real home crowd both places. In the 2009, we went to qualifying games against Mexico and Honduras, and the fans for the visitors were numerous and loud. Maybe soccer is really getting better support here, but realistically it’s probably just the revised ticket sales procedure.

It took the US a while, but they have finally figured out the better places to have US home qualifiers, and it’s not California, Florida or Texas.

I am delaying my move to Spain until July 4 so I can watch the games at a relatively decent hour. If Spain makes it to the Final, I’ll fly over to (hopefully) celebrate with family.

I would like to thank the USA soccer team for making my father very, very happy last night.

Although Mexico has not played well at all these past weeks, it is nice to know that they still have a chance to go to the World Cup. I have never known a World Cup without them.
