World cup 2014

^ ^ ^

It might be whether or not the GK can make more saves than Messi can score goals?

Legroom, the defenses come from die-hard supporters and the media that pander to such supporters. The press in Uruguay takes the “side” of Suarez, and Lugano talks about a … conspiracy with older injuries! Totally crazy.

Note that few, short of the French, did support Zidane. At best, they felt sorry for such a great player to lose it so badly, and further tarnish his reputation and legacy. Look at today … an incident of misbehavior in 2014 and the memories of Zidane come back. Just as Maradona hand of God. Pele and Cruyff are remembered for more positive elements!

By the way when the promising son of Zidane (Enzo) was red-carded for kicking an opponent laying on the pitch, the reports were that the son had inherited both talent and bad temper.

So do we know if Uruguay has submitted any evidence to dispute the allegations against him as allowed by FIFA? I mean, other than LS asserting that it was an accident, what could they really say?

Is there a sense that Suarez will suffer anything more than being banned from the rest of the WC games? Or will his punishment be far less severe?

Uruguay defense is interesting. They claim the video images are not conclusive. Not much of a mitigating reply.

My take on this is that the FIFA should make a deal with Suarez

Come clean and admit the intent to bite. Get a WC suspension plus 5 national games.

Do not admit but deliver a dental imprint. If the imprint matches the injuries, get a full two year ban from FIFA, and face the UEFA for possible sanctions at the club level.

Really? It’s interesting how some just cannot admit wrongdoing, no matter the proof. The sky will fall if the words “I was wrong” are uttered.

http://www.footballfancast.com/football-blogs/new-angle-provides-definite-proof-of-liverpool-star-luis-suarez-biting-giorgio-chiellini</a></p>

Dumb stat of the day: $390M lost productivity to watching the game. Nonsense. They assume people can’t move their day around, that they sit and don’t do anything else and that they actually work 8 hours.

It’s an excused absence. I have a note from Jurgen Klinsmann.

<a href=“USA's Jürgen Klinsmann: Give workers time off for Germany match | USA | The Guardian”>http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jun/26/jurgen-klinsmann-usa-world-cup-germany-group-g</a></p>

Suarez has been suspended for four months. So he’ll miss the rest of the World Cup and the beginning of his season. He also is not permitted to be in the stadium when his team plays the remaining WC matches.

If your employer refuses to let you go home to watch today’s game Jurgen says it’s okay to bite them.

If he files an appeal, will he be entitled to play in the interim?

I read that Team Uruguay are prepared to exploit a loophole which says if you appeal a sanction, you may play in the meantime; a hearing on this matter would not likely be scheduled until next week, essentially negating the ban in the short term and for WC purposes. Anyone know more about this?

My company will broadcast the game on large screen and provide foods for everyone to watch.

Coolweather… Nice.

DD’s work has been projecting games every day onto a wall and the employees are working on laptops in the room. She made cupcakes for everyone today. Today they are pojecting the US game and have the other game on a TV set up in the room. I think she has seen at least one game daily.

Although Uruguay can appeal the decision, it will not stop Suárez being banned from Saturday’s match because under article 124 of the Fifa disciplinary code it does not have a “suspensive effect”.

Come on Portugal… don’t let Ghana win!

Portugal is ahead 2-1!

They did it! USA! USA!

Would have been nice to see US win, but I know they’ll take this and be happy to move forward.

Thank you. I’m not well schooled in soccer rules. I went to some soccer forums to read about this and most posting seemed to think there was a chance at an appeal somehow giving Suarez the right to play until the appeal was heard. Obviously I didn’t go to the right source, haha.

Ok, so now I’m reading that Uruguay is considering boycotting their game on Saturday. What would be the result of that? Columbia would advance by default? Would Uruguay suffer any penalties as a team?

This is the kind of outcome I like: the better team won but the US still advances. Everybody’s happy.
