World cup 2014

So glad Ian Darke and Steve McManaman are calling today’s game for ESPN. :)

That’s good to hear. I haven’t turned it on yet. Ds1 came over to watch with me. Woot! One of my best friends is all about Germany whereas I’m supporting Brazil in this game so we’ve been talking trash all morning. She did study abroad in Germany and is fluent so is probably more vested in the outcome than I am. I’m all about Argentina, really.

Wow. This game is crazy!

Un.believable.

OMG.

Crazy.

Unbelievable and it might get worse.

Hulk.must have about six or seven turnovers in this game – he has been awful.

Hulk: where Brazil’s offense goes to die.

Meanwhile, Brazil’s D checked out after the first goal. Just terrible. Germany is good, but they aren’t this good…

Does this mean that the US is better than Brazil?

I taped the game, but I’ll probably not watch all 90 minutes of it.

Please ESPN, no more shots of crying Brazilians. Can’t they find any of the 1000 Germans in the stadium?

This is almost beyond belief.

And then there were 6.

I wonder if the Brazilian players/coaches will need protection afterwards. People get emotional and really invested in these things. Add alcohol and easy opportunity and I would worry for their safety.

Oy vey.

Wow. I was checking in periodically from work. I thought they were playing replays of a goal, but no, just new goals.

Speaking in a nice way, Germany won the first half, Brasil won the seconf half, and Germany won the game by one touchdown.

Humbled. That was … something else.

Did BRA lose because Neymer (the guy who got hit in the back) was out? He was mostly offensive I thought but could his absence have changed the team’s psychology?

^^^^They were missing a key offensive player (Neymar) to injury, and the captain Silva (central defender) to accumulated yellow cards. Certainly this affected them, but it should not have crippled them to a 7-1 loss.

The announcer put it brilliantly: “Brazil is playing like they only have 9 players.”

A few times I noticed how different the two teams were playing. Germany had three defenders back and they were all on the same line, while Brazil got caught with only one or two defenders back and nobody was marking anyone. Once Germany sensed they could score at will they out hustled Brazil.

It would have been a great game had Brazil not lost their two stars.
