I have to say, for defending champions playing significantly lower ranked teams, Argentina haven’t looked convincing against any of Switzerland, Egypt or Cabo Verde imo.

These Argentina - Switzerland refs aren’t doing a great job at putting the conspiracies to rest. I can’t recall the last time I saw a card given for simulation.
Good thing Italy didn’t qualify, or we’d be handing out Oscars

I’m not a conspiracist as a rule but it does seem to me that certain teams somehow always manage to come off on the right side of some controversial decisions

Agree, what in the world did the Swiss player do? Simulation is a yellow card violation?
Certain teams led by certain stars who are cash cows for FIFA and its sponsors.
But I’m not a conspiracist either 
(And officiating controversy is par for the course as are the conspiracies, it’s all part of the game!)

Well, now that all my favorite underdogs are out, I find myself in the very unexpected position of pulling for Switzerland in these last two periods of overtime. Just to keep things interesting. Anyone else?
Yeah… realistically with 10 men it’s unlikely but
It was a VAR decision for a case of mistaken identity. The Argentinian player was given a yellow card but VAR intervened and the referee determined that the Swiss player dove which rescinded the yellow on Argentina and gave one to the Swiss player for simulation.
It is harsh but it is very straight-forward violation of the laws of the game

Haaland’s foul on an English player was obvious with a two-hand push. Usually, push and pull during a corner kick happens all the time. His was too obvious to ignore.
Almost all football players seem to have good acting these days, even the guys who committed a foul.

Watching the World Cup now from another country 
! Will go to a local pub to see how Canadians celebrate a game.
We’re on vacation and all 8 of us watch 
. Last night we played a World Cup flag game which I royally came in last place, lol. I’m terrible at flags! I guess our schools did something right tho as our kids shined at it!
