World Cup 2026

We are not allowed to even mention Argentina! Biggest nemesis of one of our SILs!

Not a huge sports fan, but I will watch World Cup Soccer. I’m rooting for USA and Croatia. Local venue in my small town (only venue in town) will have Watch Cup parties.

Ditto. And Brazil! And will follow the weird one - Uzbekistan  which will flame out quickly.

You never know, just remember Morocco placed 3rd last world cup, Uzbekistan may be the dark horse!

We’ve been a soccer family for 20 years. I’m attending the France v Norway game in two weeks, and then a quarter final, all thanks to work. I can’t wait!!!

Norway posted 3 very cool team pictures. In one, the team is in full Viking garb, with a longship in the background. In another, the team is forming 3 rows such that the vertical and horizontal lines from the Norwegian flag on their jerseys perfectly align. The third shows a patchwork of color, as each player is wearing the jersey of their first team.

I’ll see if I can find photos on the interwebs.

Definitely watching! Rooting for Mexico - love that they are hosting in that historic stadium. They are superfans (which anyone who has attended any of the Mexican league games knows!), and it’d be a thrill for their team to make it through the bracket.

But I m sure to have a favorite in every game even if I don’t have one yet; I feel incapable of impartiality once the game starts.

Our ds is going on Sunday in Houston. Germany v Curaçao. He did his college study abroad in Germany, so it’s fun that was the game he got in the lottery!

Huge soccer family, as both kids played competitively through high school and one played in college. Watching World Cup matches has been a big part of our family life since the kids were little. The family group chat is going to blow up with lots of trash talk because we all have different favorite teams and players. In the meantime, Knicks in 5 . . . .

I lived in England when they almost won the euro cup in 96 (also when they debuted the song Three Lions!), and then I was in France when France won the World Cup in France (1998). Didn’t attend any games but I watched them all at the outdoor watch parties which were set up all over Paris. I don’t think I will ever experience anything that electric ever again (well maybe if I had been at MSG last night?). That world cup transformed France, you could feel it happening in real time.

I’m near a host city and there’s not a ton of excitement sadly. Or maybe there is but it’s so dispersed with all our other sporting events. We have tickets for Paraguay - Türkiye.

For this WC I think Morocco’s got a good chance with Hakimi. They’ve been investing lots of $$ towards developing their team/infrastructure and they’re hosting the next WC. I also always fall in love with whichever underdog makes it out of the first rounds.

My SIL is a Brit and soccer lover, so of course will be following England. I saw that Carter’s were selling UMBRO soccer clothing for kids, so I ordered the England set for my GD. When it arrived, my SIL informed me the shirt had the wrong flag, but he was happy for her to have it anyway! Of course I couldn’t decide on the shorts or skort, so she got both.

If anyone has a little, take a look: Carter’s x Umbro – Soccer Collection for Baby & Kids

lol, he is not the only one noticing! All 4 reviews mentioned that the flag was wrong.

We have a Carters store nearby, and you bet I picked up some WC clothes for one of our grands!

My store only had 2 teams in store, so I had to order online. Luckily, you can search store availability online. I ordered about a month ago.

My dermatologist’s office called right when Mexico scored so I missed it. ARGH. I always cheer for Mexico.

We are also a host city, but right now we aren’t planning to attend any games. I am more concerned about the mess at the airport (more than our usual mess) with our upcoming trip.

Ha! We just happened to go there for dinner and I thought they rang up our bill wrong because mine said $0.00. We didn’t wear jerseys though. But I thought it was weird how many people were wearing jerseys. I didn’t think my area cared that much!

I’ve been a football fan for ages. Way back, for many years, I rooted for England and my best buddy rooted for Germany. Germany went to World Cup every times and won while England stayed home quite a bit.

These days I don’t have a favorite team but have always loved Brazilian style of football.

I love seeing/hearing about those football fans. They are the definition of fanatics. My favorite are Brazilian fans for their easy-going, fun-loving vibes and Scotland fans as diehard, entertaining and a bit nutty (maybe, a lot) in a fun way.

We attended a couple of games in 1994. This time, the ticket prices are outrageous. FIFA should be ashamed.

I’m boycotting the World Cup due to fifa’s greed. My husband is soccer crazy. As long as we’ve been together he has always rearranged his schedule/ watched games even at 2 am (due to time zones) and had never missed a World Cup game. This year he was so excited saved vacation time and had 12 games picked out he wanted to travel to to see but couldn’t get a lottery chance and then tickets, parking, hotels were unaffordable. A motel 6 next to our nearest stadium was charging $950 and the cheapest tickets are $2k.
