I will ignore you for that.

I thought the Spain vs. Portugal game was pretty dull. Neither team put much pressure on the other. Spain was pretty obviously better, though.

2 or maybe 4 post#540

I hope Spain takes it all. :)

No games today. I’m going through withdrawal.

None tomorrow, either! If you get cable or satellite, maybe you can find a “classic” to watch.

Does anyone know how the teams distribute money received from FIFA?

It appears that each qualifying team got a minimum of 9 million dollars (one million prior to event and 8 million for participating in the first round). But it would be interesting to know how each team splits the money received.

2 days without World Cup. I am going through withdrawal too.

I read some where that the US coach gets $500,000 and the England coach gets $9 million. If that is true, then the FIFA money for the US team did not go to the coach.

oh my days are not same with the exciting of soccer games…can’t wait for brazil vs nethrlands…i think brazil will win…anyone else has a different opinion?

i think brazil will win but i don’t want them to ![]()
i really don’t want the last game to be brazil vs argentina but it looks like theres a really good possibility thats whats going to happen.
the netherlands will have to beat brazil to make it to the final, and spain will have to beat argentina.
these are both quarterfinal games that could work as finals, too. which is unfortunate, that two of these four great teams will not make it to the semifinals :/

i’d love to see spain in the finals (VILLA!), or at least semifinals, but argentina definitely deserve it too. blah so conflicted.

The money goes to the national soccer federations. Those federations spend it how they wish (and how it is drawn up in their contracts with the players).

Here is some info on the US payout:
[U.S. would get record $20 million bonus for winning World Cup - Dirty Tackle - World SoccerBlog - Yahoo! Sports](http://g.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/world-cup/blog/dirty-tackle/post/U-S-would-get-record-20-million-bonus-for-winn?urn=sow,245513)

the first 2 columns are for the players per round and cumulative payout. The 3rd column is what FIFA would give to USSF (US Soccer Federation).

The players might further divide up their money also. So, even though there are 23 players on the team, they might split it more ways (unevenly) with people who played in some qualifying games and helped the team get to the WC.

argentina has to get through Germany first. No easy task. Spain has Paraguay this round.

FIFA poll:

Which of the four winning teams to date impressed you most in the Round of 16?
Results

1) Germany - 45.66%
2) Argentina - 39.36%
3) Ghana - 10.53%
4) Uruguay - 4.45%

Which former FIFA World Cup champions have the best chance of winning South Africa 2010?
Results

1) Brazil - 37.44%
2) Argentina - 32.58%
3) Germany - 25.87%
4) Uruguay - 4.11%

I favor Argentina.

I think the final is going to be Brasil vs Germany, with Germany winning it for the fourth time.

Is that a different country than Brazil :)

Hehe! I have a small keyboard!

“Brasil” is, of course, how they spell it in the actual country of Brasil. “Brazil” can be considered an incorrect foreign spelling.

I am happy that I can watch the Netherlands-Brazil game before going to work tomorrow.

I may watch the second half of the Uruguay-Ghana game if the result for both sizes is close after the first half.

Now I’m thinking about Argentina vs Germany … Hmmmm I think Argentina has the advantage with Maradona since he seems to have something else that others don’t have… He seems to motivate very well … Or is he just a great drama queen?

true, I realized that after I posted, Argentina-Germany should be a good game to watch, same with Netherlands-Brazil. I just have a feeling about Argentina though, I think they’ll end up at the finals, idk, things have been going splendidly for them so far.
