I second the bird, bird, bird. It’s the word.

Besides the parakeet made the decision quicker than the octopus. View the video.

A por ellos oe, a por ellos oe, a por ellos oe!

Viva Espa

Cephalopods are considered among the most intelligent creatures in the sea, maybe second only to dolphins and whales.

I would like to see Spain win as I was so impressed by the absolute ball control/possession game they played vs Gemany. Netherlands has a good chance, they are a dynamic offense, but if Spain is as close to perfect as they were in the semifinal, they will be very hard to beat. If one team controls the ball for such a vast majority of time, the other team has a 15-20 timeframe in which to score. It was amazing to watch Germany unable to get the ball out of their half of the field for such lengths of time.
But the Netherlands uniforms are best by far.

Here are records of Mani and Paul:

[Paul the psychic octopus vs. Mani the prescient parakeet: Clash o…](http://www.huliq.com/8738/paul-psychic-octopus-vs-mani-prescient-parakeet-clash-titans)

I’m going with the parakeet.

Besides, I think the octopus chose the mussels in the Spanish box because they were laced with Orujo or something. Paul probably thought the mussels in the Dutch box were pickled, like their herrings are.

Go Oranje!

here’s an English article on Paul: [Paul the octopus has made his final selections - Dirty Tackle - World SoccerBlog - Yahoo! Sports](http://g.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/world-cup/blog/dirty-tackle/post/Paul-the-octopus-has-made-his-final-selections?urn=sow,254898) I saw that he is 2.5 years old… apparently that is old for an octopus, and he probably won’t live to be 3. =(

Germany / Uruguay tomorrow!

It’s sad that there is only one (meaningful) game left.
Have to wait 4 years for next one.

^^^I was telling my DD this morning that World Cup is like reading a really good long book, one of those you just can’t put down. Even though it’s 900 pages, as you get toward the end, you begin to feel sad, because in spite of wanting to know the outcome, you almost don’t want it to end.

True. True. I wonder NLF fans and NBA fans gave the same feeling.

I may miss today’s game because of family duty.

There’s a report that questions whether Sneijder might be fit for tomorrow’s game. Apparently he had problems during Friday’s training sessions, and needed treatment. …his legs. Sorry I can’t post the link, my PC is on the fritz and am writing from a Mac laptop that I’m not used to…can’t figure out how to copy/paste the link.
It’s an article in yahoo sports.

:) :)

Podolski and Klose not staring for Germany.

YDS, unless you have special TV services, this may be your last time to see that gorgeous Forlan. Hope you get to watch the game.

I’m watching today’s game. Tomorrow’s I’m going to watch online during opening ceremonies for ds’s camp. I hope there’s no scoring during the quiet parts or I’ll embarrass myself!

Uruguay played better and created more opportunities for goal, but Germany won… Oh well …

This World Cup has been fun. Hopefully we introduced more Americans to the game—hard to fathom how difficult it really is to be as good as those players though. It’s a long way there from the “bunch ball” the kids play in first grade!

Gotta go with Spain tomorrow- if only for my D’s Spanish boyfriend. When he is happy she is happy!!! He’s the bigger soccer geek but she is the better player!

I agree. Suarez blew it early when he had a great chance to score, and that last shot by Forl

All hail the almighty Paul! I hope his record remains intact tomorrow.

I know it’s the people who vote for MoM, but how could they not vote for Forl

I think it’s a pretty good game, mainly because there’s not much pressures. Germany’s young squad started out with new faces and played well throughout the game. Uruguay played really well in the second half also. This is how soccer should be. Unfortunately nowadays there’s too much other things involved. Once a team scored, they started to go back and defend because the stake is so high. I wouldn’t expect a game like this tomorrow. It will probably be a low scoring game tomorrow.
