He supposedly suffered a “soft tissue” injury.

FIFA has said they will not look at Drogba’s cast until 2 hours before game time. You are right. It will be interesting. He is really a wonderful player.

I’ll be extremely disappointed if he doesn’t get a chance to play. He’s one of Africa’s best players, and he’s playing in arguably Africa’s most talented World Cup team, and they are playing in the hardest group.

He has to play

I hope he gets to play as well, but if the cast is thought to be possibly dangerous to other players (there is unavoidable contact), I think they will not let him play with it. Playing w/o it would be too dangerous for him, I think.

razorsharp…

Brazil plays North Korea tomorrow. The world class skill of the Brazilians should put on a clinic against a team that has no business being on the same field.

… and they have a terrible coach. It’s a shame.

I’m sure they can wrap Drogba’s cast in bubble wrap, and tell him they will be watching to make sure he doesn’t slug someone in the head with it.

While Spain has the most talented outfit, my feeling is that Brazil will be the ultimate winner. The player I will be watching on that team is Maicon, their great attacking right-back.

From what I have seen in previous World Cups, teams that do well tend to have strong wing-backs. I don’t think it will be different this time.

Nice to see you, Canuckguy. I won’t disagree with you about Brazil, but I can hope, can’t I? Spain has a history of underperforming on big atages, but I hope not this time.

I was stunned to see that neither Ronaldinho nor Adriano made the Brazil world cup team. I guess they are getting too old?

Wow, New Zealand in the last 30 seconds of stoppage time to tie.

Yes, and it was a very pretty goal!

Drogba will be on the bench for IC, FIFA having approved his cast. I think I’m going to watch the rest of today’s games in Portuguese.

Ivory Coast and Portugal don’t look like they like each other much, lol.

Me too. It seems like Ronaldinho has already peaked in his career. He isn’t the superstar he once was.

I actually think Portugal was lucky to come out with a tie.

Agreed. I don’t get why IC didn’t go for the point at the end. Time was up; what did they have to lose?

^^^

It was simply that the player taking the corner wasn’t thinking it through. He should have realized that (in injury time) you need to play to the goal so that the ref can’t blow his whistle.

I’d dearly love to see North Korea beat Brazil 2 - 1 and create a chance that two out of these three strong teams (IC, Brazil, Portugal) go home.

This Brazil team is built by Dunga to win ugly but to win.

Long past 1982 “artistic” Brazil team with Zico, Socrates, Falco, etc.

After 45 mins., #1ranked Brazil vs. 105th ranked North Korea is scoreless. N. Korea seems to be keeping Brazil packed tight in the middle, unable to get off good passes.

I think it will open up in the second half, but I have to say I’m surprised so far.
