World Cup fever!

Another rookie question: is there any significance to the shoe color?

^No. I think they may have to have the country’s colors on the shoe though.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOL! and a beauty.

The last goal was a beauty by NK!

Golazo, said Univision. A beautiful goal.

good second half

Yes, that was fun.

I was touched by the emotion of the NK player who cried during the anthem. I have also been impressed with how many players seem to be singing theirs. Tomorrow when they play the hymn for Spain, no one will be singing because there are no words. Seems unbelieveable, but it’s true.

Go Spain!

I was, too. I half wondered if he was crying because they had the misfortune to draw #1 ranked Brazil for their first match, but then realized he was probably relishing the moment and the chance to represent his nation in the World Cup for the first time in many decades.

Kudos to NK for an amazing effort.

The guy that cried, Jong Tae Se, is actually a Japanese-born Korean, and never lived in NK. However, because he had familial ties in NK, he cried.

Can’t wait for Spain to rip the Swiss apart tomorrow.

Well, Brazil was supposed to rip the N Koreans apart today, but they didn’t.
We’ll see how it goes.

NK exhibited the most beautiful goal that I have seen so far. Everyone sitting in the restaurant where I had lunch clapped hands.

he also has an iPod and money… the envy of his teammates.

worth mentioning that the North Korea coach said he communicates secretly with Kim Jong Il during the matches to talk strategy. And the announcers said the NK fans that were there were actually hand picked chinese. And during qualifying the home games for NK against SK were played in China b/c NK refuses to play the SK anthem, as required by FIFA rules.

also… if anyone wants to listen to the vuvuzelas, fortunately there is an internet site where you can stream the sound!

[Vuvuzela Radio - The sound of the vuvuzela!](http://www.vuvuzela.fm/)

might want to bookmark this for after the world cup when you start to miss it…

Hoping la Furia Roja wins!!! Would like to see F

Going to watch Spain play while on the treadmill. Maybe the speed of the game will serve as inspiration for my run.

Go Swiss! Way to go another underdog. What surprising play all game.

Wow. Props to Switzerland for pulling off that huge upset

I know it’s just one game but it makes it super simple plan for Spain now … win the two remaining games and get a bunch of goals (they may need both to advance).

Spain’s disadvantage is that they are playing Honduras next. If they beat Honduras like a drum, it’s over for Honduras and unlikely they will give maximum effort in their last match against Switzerland.

Also, the second place team’s likely next round opponent is GERMANY.

I happened to be walking through a mall here in Toronto this morning and they had huge TVs set up in the mall concourse as well as in the food court. All available seats were filled with people watching Spain v. Switzerland and dozens and dozens of people were standing around the perimeter. So much for ‘ripping the Swiss apart’!
