Worried about college...

I have been reading many posts on here with students taking 5/6 AP classes a year, and having extremely high SAT scores, and intense course loads. This worries me because I can’t take 5/6 AP classes a year, or intense course loads because my school doesn’t offer opportunities like that. My school only offers 4 AP classes, and no real electives. I live in a super small town and there aren’t even SAT prep classes unless I go an hour away. At my school a 1750 on the SAT is the highest 95% of the entire school… Will admissions realize that I’m from a small town with little to no opportunities?

Yes, admissions will not hold it against you if your school only offers 4 AP’s and the many opportunities available to other applicants from different schools. When you apply, your GC will send a school report indicating the HS course offerrings and stats about the students. You do not have to attend a formal SAT prep class to increase your score. There are many on-line prep programs and books that will enable to work on getting better scores. I suggest you look into these options, since your SAT is a good score but it will depend upon which schools you are targeting. Good Luck.

What does your guid counselor tell you as far as target list of colleges? Is it broad enough for you? Or too small?
