worried about gpa

Is my gpa good enough for admission to Wharton/UPenn and UChicago.
I will be applying early to both colleges, so they won’t see my 1st semester senior grades.

9th 1st sem. 2nd sem.

Also my 9th-11th grade unweighted gpa is around 3.74

Borderline low GPA for the two, it should be > 3.8 to have a good shot. The narrow gap can be overcome easily by strong SAT1 and SATII.

Personally, 5 Bs throughout a high school career is impressive to me. Then again, my school is a bit harsh with the grading. We’d need to see the whole package (pardon the pun, please god pardon the pun) in order to make a real inference into whether it is ‘low’ or not. Post a chances thread on the ‘what are my chances’ forum.

My daughter is looking at Wharton and math grades and scores are emphesized there. Do your math SAT scores show your school’s math classes are just very hard?

Well my SAT scores are 800 CR, 720 Wr, 700 Ma (2220), but my math IIC score is 780, so would that make up for my low math grades?

I don’t think things make up for each other in college admissions. The SAT mathII score is nice, but the rest of your math indicators are weak for Wharton. I think a 700 mathI would be unusual even for a hooked candidate there. Math is at the heart of that program and this worries my DD who has a 760mathI and 800II. I’ve been told over half the class has a 800 mathII. Chicago has much less interest in the scores and you’ll be a strong candidate there.
