Worried about Grades

Current junior here. 1st semester I received my first ever Bs in Accelerated Precal and AP Bio. The Bs were 88 in Bio and 85 in Precal. All other grades were low-mid As in APs. Do I still have a chance at Georgetown or Penn PPE if I get As this semester? I also have a 35 ACT with multiple in depth leadership ECs.

Yea you have a chance. But you could have had straight As and still not get in.

I think your worry is misplaced.

You need to be strong at math. Math builds. Your worry should be focused on what are you missing and why. Get caught up because it’s only going to get harder.

In other words, forget the grade. Worry about understanding the material because whether you go to those two schools or others - if you take a math focused view of Econ - the material is only going to get more sophisticated.

I agree with this. In my experience students who do very well in all of the prerequisites for calculus tend to find calculus to be relatively straightforward. However, I have consistently heard that students who struggle at all with any of the prerequisites can struggle even worse with calculus. It is worth taking the time and effort to learn precalculus very well.
