I had gotten my SSAT score back and was in the 79% overall. Nothing was in the 80s or 90s. My sections were all in the 70s. However, I am applying to some pretty big names like Deerfield, Exeter, Taft, Concord, etc. How big does the SSAT have on the rest of my application.
My interviews went pretty well(8/10-9/10) maybe.
I have a 3.9 GPA for middle school and a 4.4 weighted for the first semester of high school.
My extracurriculars are alright, but I know other applicants are stronger.
I feel like my essays were pretty solid too. Is my SSAT score enough? Thanks!
I had the same score and still got into/waitlisted at “tippy top” schools. My breakdowns were a little different (65V, 88Q, 75?R). If you’re coming from a public school, especially one that isn’t well renowned, I think you are okay. The fact that all your scores are in the 70s show no red flags to admissions imo. If the app is submitted and the deadline is past, nothing you can do now. I wouldn’t be that worried tbh. It would probably raise more of a concern if you went to a private school where they reinforce secondary school placement and the SSAT from an earlier age. Usually those applicants have higher scores than public school students that have never even heard of the test before taking it.
My son applied to some of the GLADCHEMS last year. He got an 85% overall. While he (and we as his parents) were proud of that score, I was told by someone in admissions at one of the schools to not submit it. If they don’t know the score and the school is test optional, then it can’t hurt their evaluation of your application. So, he only submitted his SSAT score to the schools that required the SSAT.
