Worried bout midterms

I just got back my midterm grades and in 3/5 classes i have a C- or lower. I am starting to do better in my classes as of last week and have been going more lately, and this grade doesnt take into account the fact that most of the classes only have 2-3 tests, and in like 3 of my 5 classes a test can be dropped from grade along with a certain amount of homework assignments. Should i really get bent out of shape about this, or just focus on what i need to do to make sure they are better? Also, do college’s send out midterm reports back home to my parents, or do they just have them online for me to view?

“Also, do college’s send out midterm reports back home to my parents”

nope, you’re a big kid now

I wouldn’t get too bent out of shape about it if in fact you’ve been doing better and going more often. Just focus on keeping that up, and stop doing whatever it is that makes you get C-s.

It might help to heed your own advice there that you should “go to class more”.

Grades aren’t everything… but you should completely take advantage of the education that either you, your parents, the government, or the financial aid office have paid for. It makes little sense to pay $50,000 per annum to go to a university and then skip a majority of the classes.

You’ll be okay as long as you start just focusing on what you have to do. Many, many freshmen bomb their first exams or even classes before getting on track and they graduate just like everyone else.

well you see thats what im worried about, im not a freshman, im a junior, but this is the first time i have ever been to a big college. I went to community college for the first two years of college, and only had between 10-30 people per class, most of my classes have at least 300 people now. So does this principle still apply to me? Is it cause this is the first time i am at a big college?

If your classes that are dropping 1 midterm grade aren’t curved, then you can still boost your grade so you’re fine if you work hard. If these classes that drop a grade are ALSO curved, then your grade will drop further if you don’t improve big time.

Lets be honest, C- sucks. But D’s will get you on probation and potentially kicked out if it continues so I’d make sure to work EXTRA hard on curved classes with a droppable midterm because the average will only go up as the semester continues.
