Worried I won't get into my program..

I’m currently a sophomore about to go into my junior year. I’ve been gearing towards being a teacher for the longest time, but now I’m worried that might not be a possibility. For my university, applicants must apply by March 1st and submit background checks, recommendation letters, GPA, personal statements, and an interview.

I have my recommendations letters set up, but not one from an education teacher. There were no available slots for an interview, so I have to write an additional personal statement in lieu of one.

This is what I’m really worried about. The GPA cut off for the program is a 2.75. I have always had a generally good GPA (3.4) however, last semester I failed a single math class. That dropped my GPA significantly into a 2.9 which is still above the requirement, just not optimal. Once I retake it my GPA will obviously be higher, but I don’t have any time to wait to apply.

Also, last year I got a misdemeanor. I was originally set up to get an MIC but I hired an attorney and he got it down to a disturbing the peace, however it still shows that it was originally an MIC. I wouldn’t be concerned if I had a good GPA and a misdemeanor, or vice versa, but them combined…

What do I do if I don’t get into the program? Do you think I have any realistic chances?

Can you talk to an adviser about this?
