Hello friends… I was wondering if someone could cure my worrying symptom. So on thursday i was accepted to washu YAYYYY!! but on friday I was waitlisted at hopkins. Does this mean i probably have no chance at any ivys? I heard that hopkins is lenient on the asian race thing and I’m asian. Please let me know and thank you
any reply would be so helpful thank you
If you got into WashU, you’re a competitive applicant (although the “YAYYY!!” doesn’t help your case lol). It’s entirely possible to get rejected from Hopkins but into an Ivy. However, nobody is guaranteed admission to any schools that selective. Especially without any information about your application, no one can really tell you. Just wait until the 28th. Good luck.
Hopkins had a 9.9% acceptance rate this year and an 11% acceptance rate last year. That’s lower than Cornell’s acceptance rate last year, which was 14%. Hopkins’s acceptance rate this year is comparable to that of Brown and UPenn last year (both in the 9% range).
Plus, JHU looks for different qualities in its applicant pool (every college does) than other universities. Just look at JHU’s “essays that worked” site compared to the essays that worked for tufts, for example.
You have nothing to worry about. Good luck next week!
You already have on great acceptance so I’d just try to relax and see what happens. Nobody can predict admissions to top tier colleges.
A lot of the admissions process depends on the essays (especially if you have high stats). If you feel that your essays were very unique for ivies than you most likely still have a good chance! Also, getting waitlisted isn’t always a bad thing. It’s possible that JHU thinks that you’re a very qualified applicant, but they simply are looking for a specific type of student.
