Is there any chance to get into Cornell with a 3.33 GPA?

I know it sounds unreasonable but I just wonder if miracle would take place. I have strong SAT score(2200/2400) and TOEFL (112/120),and good GPA(3.9) in my junior year(which is my first year in America,I was born and grew up in China) But I have a heavy course load in senior year, all my classes are AP and honors, which makes my fall term GPA a disaster. Do I still have any chance?

I’m in your position, only I’ve been in america my whole life. My GPA is a bit better. I still think it is possible. From what I hear, essays and extra curriculars are before GPA in order of importance (left to right).

I’m in the similar condition as you are. My GPA is just slightly higher(about 3.5) but my SAT is not over 2200.
同学,放宽心吧。其实你很强啊,GPA神马是浮云,浮云
大学申请靠RP, RP

@numberfortyone.Although I understand your unwillingness to believe GPA is important. I still have to tell ruthlessly that GPA comes before everything. You can go ask any college counselor or college admission officer, and I am sure they will say GPA and curricular choice is the most important thing. A low GPA doesn’t mean you can’t get in, just don’t push down its importance so much because you HOPE it is not important, because it is.
Im from China, too. Hope every Chinese can end up good. 加油。

GPA is a very important factor in getting admitted, but it doesn’t mean that it’s the only important factor. For one thing, your SAT score is okay (but by no means excellent - sorry!). Also, Cornell looks heavily at your essay. Just spend a couple hours/days/weeks on it and you should have a chance. I think they would understand if you wrote that you are an international student on your essay.

Like Jiaoda and Jessie said, take a deep breath and keep it up (sorry for the translation, I came here from china when I was 3, so my Chinese is horrible)

I know two kids who got into Cornell with very low grades, one had a 2.7 and the other a 3.1 gpa. As long as you show the admissions committee that you are an interesting person you always have a shot.

check out [Cornell Confidential BETA](http://cornellconfidential.com) - there’s lots of cornell students on this board who can answer your questions and it’s a lot better organized

I talked to my teacher about this. Universities and colleges look at if you’re challenging yourself by taking the ‘hard’ classes. I rather get the B in an advance/honor class then an A in a regular class. Also, they look at your essay, when they came in to talk they were saying how this one kid was talking about how he lived on a farm and how he hates it and wants to do something more in life and he got accepted.
