Worrying over liking and the likes

Now, is it really a good idea to worry over who likes who and who doesn’t like who in high school? We know either nothing good comes out of dating or something TOO good comes out of dating. We either get hurt, or get TOO satisfied. Quoting something I don’t remember, friendships are so much better without the possibility of sex. But that’s only theoretical.

That is not to say that HS dating is bad, but to say that excessively worrying about it is silly. We know the outcome of every relationship and the immutability of the outcome. So why worry about it? We know that if we don’t make a move, and someone we like likes us enough, then that person will make the first move. So why worry about it?

Yay, relationships.

Because it helps pass the time.

High school (and most of college) is for messing around. That’s basically it.

good for awkward silences

Bobert’s getting in on the whole boy-girl-relationships thread market?

I have to agree w/ the whole “passing time” thing. It’s what you do when you get bored.

Besides, it’s like sharing secrets!!! OhEmGee!!!

…but that’s why you get a boy/girl… to pass the time… -_-;

Boys are icky.

i’m trying to stay clean

passing the time is too weak of an argument to justify the drama seen in the likey liking likely threads in the cafe

its entertaining bobert

I disagree… over time, relationships prove to have many dynamics that can come and go and appear and disappear all together. A person you originally thought would fit the mold of g/f or b/f may–as you find out later–be exactly not what you thought you wanted… and some other person comes along who makes no sense as a b/f or g/f in your life, becomes exactly that…the best relationships, IMO, are the ones that were surprises and never forced. I guess the more you know yourself, the more you can hone in on what you want in a partner/friend, etc… but if it’s only based on certain criteria, then I guess the outcome is immutable.
Being yourself and allowing others the same space to be themselves leaves doors open and the outcome of relationships, in this case, is hardly a sure thing… how exciting eh?

having crushs are fun gossip

My point is, no matter what you make of it in the beginning, high school relationships rarely last. I’m not naive enough to believe that any of mine will.

some do me.duh… in fact a lot do, at least high school friendships.

I agree that friendships do. I have friends from middle school (who live 1000+ miles away and haven’t seen in years) who are more dear to me than anyone I see on a daily basis.

I meant relationships in the romantic sense.

Besides, it’s reported that teens can feel emotions up to 10 times as much as they would at any other time in their lives. Who’s to say that “love” isn’t just a crush that will end tomorrow?

I love what you said about making moves. I got some advice for you: girls never make the first move (subtle, never-to-be-detected hints and signals don’t count). Making the first “move” entails actually approaching someone and asking them if they want to do something with you, etc.

Girls virtually never make the first move and guys are many times too shy to/ don’t make the move even when they’re getting the right signals.

My advice to you: How bout YOU make the first move. YOU take a chance for once.

First of all, high school is a joke anyway, have a good laugh and if you strike out a few times who the hell cares. All the ‘naturals’ are simply the ones with the most failures anyway. So actually make the first move. Even if you don’t think you know the person that well. I mean, how the hell do you think people meet?

Okay, rant over. Enjoy yourself, though, kids.

boyfriends are pretty useless in high school.

dating is okay, though. because that’s fun and no pressure.
and if you’re a girl you get movie tickets and food out of it lol

…am i not a feminist because i said that?? :)

I was talking to a doctor lady who kept telling me that I won’t have any real relationships until med school. She told me high school and college were full of meaningless relationships that were just a big waste of time. But then she also told me she wanted to be a doctor because god told her too…and that they talk to each other on a daily basis.

does God use AIM or MSN?

AIM of course

So god has an sn???
