Worst dressed: when ugly AND expensive meet

In an effort to respond to the great suggestion that someone should start a fashion atrocities thread, I'll kick it off with this adorable little number:

Christopher Kane Atomic Backless Dress at Barneys New York

At $1500, this will look great at the next anti-nuclear demonstration!

This is the first time that my mouth literally fell open because of a dress. This is an appalling dress. Imagine wearing it in Hiroshima.

I think this thread is over Gourmetmom. After all, what could be worse than that?

<a href="http://www.inquisitr.com/wp-content/lady-gaga-ketmit-outfit.jpg%5B/url%5D">http://www.inquisitr.com/wp-content/lady-gaga-ketmit-outfit.jpg</a></p>

The top of the dress reminds me of the time when I had a breast feeding accident. It wasn't good then, or now.

Oy. The Atomic dress wins the top prize no matter what will follow next in this thread!

If your D is looking for gift ideas for her BF's birthday, this charming item is quite affordable at under $120:

D&G*-*Bottle Opener Necklace-Neiman Marcus

It is a must have item in any college student's wardrobe! :)

peopleofwalmart dot com

And here is a bag that would have perfectly complemented the Atomic dress. Too bad it sold out in a flash - it was a true steal at $160 for a piece of real canvas!

Canvas Doggie Shopping Tote - Saks.com

Gourmetmom, I forwarded your link to my buddies. I'm sure they will have a blast! ;)

I love the accessorizing ideas - we should all pick up a bottle opener necklace. How have I gone so long without one?

I'm particularly interested in overpriced revolting fashion. Sure, it's easy to find cheap ugly dresses, but you have to work hard to spend the big bucks.

Shop Stella | Wisteria Print Erena Dress | Stella McCartney

I had a feeling that Stella wouldn't let me down. Do you think that anyone actually bought this thing for $4500? It reminds me of one of those old-fashioned lampshades with the ruffles on top.

somemom: I had never heard of peopleofwalmart dot com but I'm horrified at what I see there.

I always thought that Stella McCartney dresses were atrocious. Whenever you see some of these famous women (often Kate Hudson) in one of her dresses I always feel like they are only wearing them because of who she is. I kind of feel like if her name wasn't McCartney she wouldn't be a famous designer.

I seriously wish I had saved a link to the (somewhat expensive) blouse that had some sort of a classic painting on the front. Positioned right, the nude upper body parts of the woman depicted in that painting perfectly matched the corresponding parts of the blouse wearer's anatomy! It was hideous, yet it sold out. Hs' gag gifts to their wives?

Ooowwww, I've burned my eyes out looking at those pictures!

veryhappy- I had occasion to go to WalMart in my town this week to fill a prescription for $4 :D But, wow, from the fat guy in the scooter with his belly showing at the entrance to the short shorts to the tattoos on the toothless, it was just like the website!

Why would anyone ever buy that?

I'll never understand why people buy a label rather than a piece of clothing. Oy vey.

Oh boy, Gourmetmom has really thrown down the gauntlet with the nuke dress.

But here's my offerings to the thread -

This one also has a sort of violent power to it and be sure to check out the back. Those details really make the dress!

Alexander McQueen - Painted V-Neck Sweater Dress - Saks.com

And this one is kind of cute . . . maybe . . . in a Bridget Bardot kind of way but the price tag slays me. Be sure to check out the close-up on the shoes!

<a href="http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446251998&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=282574492043303&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395222441&bmUID=1273076602642&ev19=5:20%5B/url%5D">http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446251998&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=282574492043303&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395222441&bmUID=1273076602642&ev19=5:20</a></p>

I can't even imagine someone coming up with the IDEA for that nuke dress, let alone wearing it.

I think the only thing that could be worse than the nuke dress would be one with an image of the WTC collapsing. Only a matter of time...

I think shoes are the most ridiculously styled & priced items out there. Here's a 'cute' Jimmy Choo offering that lights up.

Jimmy Choo - Light-Up Platform Sandals - Saks.com

^^^They look they are for a costume in a porn flick.
