Worth applying to Ivy League Schools?

I’m only a sophomore so please skip over this discussion if you aren’t willing to go off of some very vague stats/predictions. I pretty much want to know if I should consider applying to any Ivy League schools assuming the rest of high school goes as well.

Basic Info:

 • Went to a really good catholic high school in Chicago suburbs yet I’m an atheist (Good essay topic or too risky?))
 • White ;(
 • Civil Engineering or Business Major
 • Born in Dubai, UAE, Lived there for 14 years (went to international school, developed travelling hobby, well cultured, urban living connects to major, etc.)

Here are my projected stats:

 • GPA Unweighted: 94 (Don’t have 4.0 scale, but I have had a couple B’s)
 • GPA Weighted: 96+
 • SAT should be very high, around 2200-2400 (Based off of former standardised test scores always in the 99th percentile)
 • ACT Should be 33-35 (Practice ACT prediction)
 • 7 honors, 6 AP Courses

EC (May have some leadership positions in these by end of high school):

 • 4 Years high school baseball
 • 3 years NHS
 • 3 Years Recycling Club
 • 3 Years Chess Club
 • 3 Years weight-lifting club

Outside School Activities:

 • Eagle Scout
 • 200+ service hours at a local hospital
 • Worked at McDonalds :stuck_out_tongue: for 3 years
 • Travel Baseball
 • Might do some powerlifting

So thats pretty much it. I would appreciate your thoughts on applying, downsides/upsides of the resume, things that aren’t needed, things that could be improved, recommended colleges (anywhere in the U.S.). I know there is no perfect formula.

Your input means a lot, Thank you,
Hickey

You need to significantly raise that GPA and report your ACT score once you officially take it.

By significantly do you mean 96? 98? Other than that, what should I improve? Thanks

Honestly, just maintain all As for the rest of your high school career (come on dude, everyone applying to Ivies knows that any class they didn’t get an A in was just because they were lazy… Like I was my freshman year lol)

Your SAT and ACT predictions are fine. If you get 2250+ or 34+ your fine.

I think you need improvement most in your ECs. Your ECs will be below average. I would recommend having 1 or 2 activities of extreme passion to get into these top schools. Just showing up for recycling club doesn’t mean anything. Chess club doesn’t mean anything unless you place in competitions. Etc.

Just my opinion. But your getting on the right track.

Alright, will do. Thanks

Update: Got my 4.0 scale gpa from my counselor. Its a 3.89 UW if that changes anything.

Nice job on those predicted SAT scores. I’d say you’re in all Ivies no problem. You may want to predict your subject test scores too so we can get a better idea.
