I have a 3.84 gpa (UW) around a 4.2-4.3 weighted and am considering apply to yale either scea or regular descion. Is Yale realistic with that GPA? Foreign language is the only real thing bring me down. My grades show a rocky, but upward trend. I also go to a good public school that usually sees 8-15 people out of 350 go to top universities. I have also taken two APs last year and five this year.
Thanks.
Will your GC indicate that you took a most rigorous courseload?
Will your recommendations indicate that you were a memorable student?
Will your essays resonate with the readers?
Your GPA will not keep you out of Yale.
Fwiw, DS’s GPA was around there, and he was accepted.
Good luck.
@IxnayBob and OP - my D’s GPA was around that too. But that was at a school that states that less than 20 students have graduated with a 4.0 since the school’s inception over 50 years ago. Yet, it is a feeder school for Yale, Harvard, the other Ivies and most of the top liberal arts schools in the nation. As IxnayBob said, there are so many more components to a successful Yale application so make sure that you note the things he mentioned because those are the things that in the end will make you stand out from the other 30,000 plus applicants.
