Coming from a california community college, with a 3.3 gpa in history (all a’s in my history classes) would it be a waste of time to apply? Time/$ are important to me, as I’m your typical poor college student, and I was wondering if I stood a decent chance or if it was more along the lines of a far reach, in which case I’d do better to save my $/time? Any thoughts/insights from those of you familiar w/ the practices? Thank you.

You should look at the NYU website for transfer information.

Personally, I think your GPA is too low. However, I’m not on the admissions committee, so if you really want to do it, you should try your best.

I don’t think your gpa is too low. NYU really does look at everything, good ECs, essays and recs could help you a lot. I don’t know if transfers need SATs, but if those are good that could help too. If you really like it then go for it, but it is expensive!

That’s why I’m on the fence. I have good HS ec’s (I was admitted to West Point and Naval Academy) but since I’ll be aplpying as a junior I don’t know how much of an effect that will have. Applied last year as a sophomor and got declined but with a 2.96 gpa, since that have raised it to a 3.3 (3.83 fall 06) and expect to keep that trend going this semester…
