Worth of award

Last year as a junior, I won the Rice Math Tournament. So when I’m applying, do the admission officers view that as showing interest in their school and give me points for winning their contest? I’m not asking if my winning the award automatically guarantees admission, I just want to know if it at least gives me an edge over other applicants.

Btw, I have pretty decent SAT reasoning and subject test scores, ecs, recommendations, gpa and all the other stuff.

Thanks.

Admissions officers don’t really “give points” for showing interest in a formulaic way, but I’m sure that if you mention the tournament in your essays or awards lists, they will look on it favorably - especially if you can tie it into why you want to attend Rice. Good luck on your application. :)
