My current major is Broadcasting, Journalism & Mass Communication and I’m emphasizing in Web Based Communication. I have an Associate degree in Marketing and I’d like to get into digital media/PR type work in the music or sports industry but I know the odds of that are pretty slim. Web/graphic design is an interest of mine as well. On the other hand, I’m interested a bit in some of the more technical computer issues. I originally considered an MIS major, but then decided against it. Now, I’m back to thinking about switching. Some people tell me it’s a great major, others tell me it’s not. In terms of Mass Comm, I’ve been told that if you go corporate and bust your ass, it can be rewarding in terms of salary. Is it worth switching? Are my job prospects going to be that much better with an MIS degree, generally speaking? I’m just worried that my dream of getting hired by a label and doing digital media/PR work is too lofty/unlikely of a goal and that my degree won’t hold any practicality outside of that.

Any advice?
