Would a 1510 SAT make up for a 3.66 W GPA?

I know that 2/3 of the admissions decision is GPA, but would a great SAT score make up for a lackluster GPA. I am in state and am of Black/Caribbean race. I go to a small private school and I had a really bad sophomore year that lowered my GPA significantly. I am 5/23 in my class due to this.

What is your UW GPA? Which major? A 3.66 is just barely above the 25th% but the SAT is very high. You may have a shot, especially if you put summer as an option. But your UW GPA matters as does which major you are apply to…

@jlhpsu My school does not report UW GPA. I added the summer session. Do you think my SAT is enough to be an EA admit? I would think that my scores compared to a 4.0 W/1250 SAT student would be better.

Depends on major. Smeal gets lot of applicants with SATs in the 75th and above percentile and higher GPAs. Also depends on the number of AP courses you took. PSU will recalculate your GPA based in their method, giving different weight to regular v. Honors/adv courses v. AP courses. I could be wrong, but I read somewhere that PSU considers an A in an AP to be worth a 6.0 out of a 4.0.

My major is Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

GPA is 2/3 of the decision.
Apply summer and DUS perhaps.
How many honors/AP classes have you taken throughout high school, total?
You’d be better off at Pitt, which values SAT score more than GPA.
