Our daughter is somewhat unique (I know all parents think that). She loves science and math and wants to pursue engineering (most likely mechanical or materials science) but also has a passion for making art and tends to hang with the art kids – the ones with dyed hair and multiple piercings. She was accepted at Union and loves the programs and size. But while we hear that it’s a welcoming campus, we also get reports that it’s a fairly preppy school, with a strong Greek focus. Is there also a strong arts culture at Union? Would she be the only student with dyed hair and combat boots? Other schools she’s considering at Alfred University and SUNY-New Paltz, both of which have engineering and very strong arts cultures.
Any impressions would be greatly appreciated!
