would a journalism degree help?

I want to go into TV journalism, and was wondering if a journalism degree actually helps. Some people have told me that it’s actually more helpful NOT to get a journalism degree (seeing as how your learn from practice and not textbooks). Right now, I’m deciding between schools like Medill at Northwestern, which offers a great journalism education and programs like Huntsman at UPenn, which is more international focused. Does anyone know which offers the more helpful career preparation?
