<p>Yes. Latin falls under the Classics department in most schools, which is in the humanities.</p>
<p>I’ve been wondering the same thing. Instead of asking an English teacher, I’m asking a French teacher. My GC said it’d be all right, since French is “close enough to a core class” (in her words).</p>

<p>Yes, a bunch of my friends asked their language teachers to write recommendations for them (primarily Spanish and French), and they did fine.</p>
<p>it makes more sense to me to get a language teacher to write you a rec anyways since most people have had the same language teacher throughout all of high school and therefore the language teacher knows the student better…</p>

<p>U of Chicago is the only school I know that would not except a Language teacher for their humanity rec.</p>
<p>I hear that if you need 2 recs and you get “english teacher” and say “french teacher”, that’s not as beneficial as if you got, for example 2 recs from a “chem teach” and a “english teach”. I hear that foreign language and english (eng. lit, eng. lang, whatever, ur generic eng . class) are too similar content-wise, like they’re both “language-based” So what do you think, get recs from completely diff . subjects like “history” and “math” or is “english + french” ok ???</p>
