Would a second undergrad degree be an advantage?

This is more of an undergrad question, but since most of the management consulting talk goes on here, I posted here.

Right now I’m majoring in Finance at U of I, and I’d like to get into management consulting, so I know it’s somehwat of an uphill battle. I was wondering if it would be worth it to get a dual degree in Finance (from the business college) and Economics (from the liberal arts/sciences college). Would it give me a boost when applying to MC firms?

Economics is interesting to me, but there are other subjects like philosophy, psychology, anthropology, and history that interest me as well. However, I wouldn’t have much time to take classes in those subjects if I attempted a second degree. So should I take a broad array of classes and just major in Finance, or should I try for a dual degree in Finance and Economics?

While it obviously wouldn’t hurt, honestly, it probably won’t help much. MC firms don’t really care about what you’ve studied. For example, I know a number of biology majors who’ve never taken a single economics course in their lives nonetheless get into top MC firms. I know scores of engineers who have never studied anything related to economics who have proven to be more successful in getting MC offers than a lot of economics students.
