Would a teacher find this weird? (recs.)

I took a 4-hour a week for 13 weeks German class earlier this spring. During a college interview, the interviewer suggested that I get a recommendation from my German professor to show my interest in languages. (I took Spanish, too, but my Spanish teacher basically said he won’t do recs.)

The last time I talked to my German teacher was to tell her I couldn’t sign up for German 2 because the class didn’t fit my schedule. She replied saying she’ll miss me and that I had a really firm grasp of the language, so at least she remembered me two months after the class!

Would it be weird to email her asking for a rec, since I haven’t spoken to her in three-four months? I can’t ask her personally because I don’t know her office hours. Plus I think me asking her in person would put her on the spot and she’ll say yes even if she doesn’t want to (she’s a really nice lady).

I still have all of my German classwork, so I can easily refresh her mind with what I got on tests/quizzes/papers/homework/etc.

I don’t want to be completely random and ask her out of the blue, but I really want to show colleges that I’m strong with languages.

Opinions? Thanks!

You need to think about how well this professor knows you. If you think she knows you quite well, you should definitely ask her even if you haven’t seen her in four months. Many students ask teachers after not seeing them a whole summer (2 months? for some).
