Would an MIT professor mentor me for Intel/Siemens?

I’m going to BS in Andover so its kinda hard for me to get to colleges and I’m not sure if there are any local colleges at Andover with a linguistics department. I’m wondering for my project (Trying to examine how long it would take for a language to be created) would a professor from MIT mentor me? Its just MIT along with Princeton are my two dream schools because I want to major in math/economics and I was wondering if someone there would mentor me or is it too trivial for them?

The only way to get an answer to this is to contact MIT professors in whose work you are interested.

True, I actually have a cousin in linguistics at MIT who although doesn’t know about my project, could hopefully hook me up…

Thanks jessiehl but is it abnormal for MIT professors to waste their time on me?

I don’t think it’s common for MIT profs to work with high schoolers but it’s not unheard of. I had a dormmate who had worked at the Media Lab under a prof’s supervision in high school.

I emailed the professor yesterday and so far no reply but its ok. If he doesn’t reply in a week I’ll just email my cousin and get her (she’s a grad student) to help me/mentor me. Hopefully thought the MIT professor considers it
