My dad is an alumni of Pitt from the 80s. I am African-American, and live in California.
I have a 4.14 gpa and a 1740 (superscored) SAT. I an also ASB President, and very heavily involved in my community. Do I have a good chance at admission/scholarships?

Your SAT is a little on the low side (what is your UW GPA?) What is your superscores M+CR? Generally the scholarship committee is looking for at least a 1500-1550 M+CR to get the OOS scholarship, which I believe you are well under.

In terms of admission, you may be okay. Again, the committee is looking for closer to a 1200 CR+M so if you have that, at least, you should be good. It also depends on what you’re applying to at Pitt, the Engineering school/Nursing will be tougher than A&S for instance.

As a URM, though, you have other opportunities for scholarships. I agree with AP that your SATs are a little low, but there have been other URMs who have posted this year that were well below the M+CR 1500 - 1550 mark.

I would agree with pittsmom. There have been other URMs who had scores lower than the 1450 SAT who have received full tuition scholarships. Did you take the ACT? Pitt will convert the ACT scores and use the higher scores.

Ah! Great point! I tend to forget about URM scholarships because non exist in my URM category.
