I started Algebra 2/Trigonometry as a Freshman in high school, then took Precalculus Honors during my sophomore year. However, I made the mistake of skipping AP Calc AB and going directly to AP Calc BC. I have always had straight As in math, but I got my first Bs in AP Calc BC both semesters.
However, I do have an 800 on the SAT II Math Level 2 and a perfect 36 on the math portion of the ACT. I have received comments that said my math is not strong because of my Bs in it, so people are telling me I should not do economics or business, and since my math is weak, it would hurt my application to schools like UPenn Wharton, NYU Stern, CMU Tepper.
Don’t listen to them – you’re qualified. A lot of economics students didn’t even take BC in high school. The worst case scenario is that you retake Calculus II (or equivalent), for example, if your AP score is low or the university doesn’t accept the calculus credit.

OMG, some people must be spending waaaaay too much time on College Confidential if they are making these statements. Disregard them.
The B’s shouldn’t matter and at top schools you will probably have to take calc again (unless you somehow got a 5) anyway so it won’t really matter if you didn’t have a super experience in HS Calc. They will see that you have great potential in math but perhaps not a great Calc teacher.
