if i admit to stuff like not knowing who i am and how i am still searching for what matters to me, would colleges consider my application?

I think it depends on how you come across. I’ll read it if you like.

You’re a high school student. I think it would sound worse if you said that you knew exactly who you were and what mattered and what you wanted to do. If it’s a good essay, you’ll be fine.

yeah I agree with circumlocution2. I’ll read it if you want.

i slightly disagree. A LOT of colleges are looking for the most passionate, driven students out there. Of course, it’s okay to say you don’t know what your passion is yet. Many students at hypsm don’t know what they want to study, but your best bet is to tell colleges that you are passionate about one thing (through essays and EC’s). Colleges accept those that they believe have the most potential for discovering new things and achieving success in the future. Being passionate about something is usually what leads to great success.
