i really love d.c. and if i get rejected from all my top choices (including georgetown) i’d probably come here because i want to be in washington as i aspire to be a politician some day, but i was just wondering:

3.8 gpa
1400 sat
40/510

are those numbers that would make GWU more towards the safety choice?

i think so. i have a 3.4 and 1500 (confusing, right?) and was told by my counselor from the beginning that gw was one of my safeties.

one thing to keep in mind: political communications is a separate program and their standards are much higher than the rest of the university (at least for freshman admissions). political science, however, is part of the college of arts and sciences.

stratman - I think GW is not exactly a safety, but more of an 75% target. In other words, you don’t have a 99% chance of getting in, so it’s not a true safety. But you do have at least a 75% chance of getting in, so it’s a good bet. The reason I say this is that GW seems to stress GPA more than a lot of other schools, and the fact that you’re well within the top 10% of your class is key.
Good luck.

My sister had a 3.7/3.8, 1500, no rank, and leadership positions. She got into SMPA (Political Communications major) and the honors program w/money. She applied RD.
