I’m not sure what I should do.
I’m thinking about applying to MSU medical school, because I live in Michigan, for early decision program next year.
But I have a few problems.
This is kind of my first year even though I graduated high school in '06 becuase I had a medical problem.
But I do have about 60 credits because of AP/transfer credits and summer courses.
I have about 3.4 gpa. I think I can definitely bring the grades up because I already took most of the challenging courses.
I do have tons of extracurricular activities, which I’ll add to in this year.
I don’t want to go the full four years if I don’t have to.
And mostly, I don’t want to waste time and money studying for MCAT this year if I can’t get in for year 2011.
What do you guys think for my chances for next year?
thanks

It depends on your mcat, so we can’t evaluate you. On the plus side, the MCAT lasts for several years, so it isn’t like you couldn’t apply for 2012 instead… However, your lack of a 4 year uni experience will hurt you, in terms of them considering your GPA.

Ok. thanks for the info. So, should I graduate in 2012 even if I can graduate in 2011 to better my chances?

It might be wise, prove to them that you can handle university science courses or something.

ok. thanks, is 3.4 too low for first year gpa?
