Would I be able to transfer to Wesleyan from a community college?

Texas resident. Here is my projected application:

College cumulative GPA: 3.7 (I’m considering joining the honors society, but I am still not sure.)
ACT: 29

High school GPA: 3.3

COLLEGE ECs:

  • research alongside linguistics instructor to study the relationship between language in it’s denotative and connotative facets, in which we can study how to improve our communication of language, and also innovate new ways of writing fiction in a postmodern context.
  • 2 semesters of philosophy club, 1 semester of writing club in which I introduced literary criticism as a means to evaluate their works and thus opening broader discussion on the origins of their writing (why did I write this?)
  • several brief research papers on neoliberal politics and government, all of which were evaluated very highly
  • Continued abstract expressionist paintings and writing avant-garde stories and poetry from a background of lit criticism research and analysis.

I spent a substantial and balanced amount of hours on all of these.

Professor recs are very, very good, highlight my participation in the classroom as a source of discussion. Not afraid to take a controversial stance, and write maturely and controlled.

Essay is spot-on, creative. English instructor evaluated it and said it’s Ivy material.

If I can’t transfer to Wesleyan, what are some match schools? I know the collegesearch is there and I’ve looked through it, but obviously there’s more to admissions than a GPA and a test score. I’m specifically looking for a humanistic academic curriculum, good internship opportunities, and generous aid.

Wow, your credentials are very similar to my own. I also applied to Wesleyan even though I don’t think I would get in. That school is my Harvard compared to the other colleges I applied to if that makes sense. Hey, I wanted a challenge  You should check out Brandeis University. Connecticut college is really good as well. Lehigh is great but I heard not so good on the aid. I wouldn’t pass up small liberal colleges either regardless of their acceptance rate. Idk if these colleges fit you but Union and Colby have strong on academics while giving good aid. Not to forget, Amherst College gives the best aid out of all the schools I listed. These are just suggestions. I don’t know of any humanistic academic savy schools, however this is just a little list of academic schools that I feel would give you a broader spectrum.
