i understand the difference, but use the terms mistakenly interchangeably. im glad its an honors program and not college, less separation. so far, it looks like for me its come down to brown and UNC, but i may still do wildcat days at NW

Brown premed to med school admission rate is above 90% (only Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Dartmouth have it as high)

It sounds that you like Brown the best. UNC even with honors won’t even come close to Brown.

"UNC even with honors won’t even come close to Brown. "

This is simply untrue.

UNC is stronger then Brown in the Biological science across the board and you can take classes at Duke as well

I heard that somewhere and it seems like when heresays are repeated and thrown around enough times on CC, they become “facts”.

Brown’s own stats says 81%!!

Check your facts, people and stop being so irresponsible!

I have a similar dilemma. I’m choosing between Northwestern, Wash U, and Tulane U. At Tulane I would be in the Honors Program and I was offered 24K a year. I’m looking to be social and while I don’t participate in sports, I don’t want to be at a school where no one cares about them. I am also looking to major in biology and possibly be pre-med. I feel like I would be stupid to turn down schools like NU or Wash U but how can I turn down 100K?

Sam Lee, the data you reported is for 2008. Apparently it dropped for that year. Brown consistently report sbeing one of the top five schools in the country placing premeds into med school. UNC is NOT one of them, for sure (Duke places more than UNC and does not make the top five either). The stats for Northwestern are vague (“about” 84% and they are from a different year (average of years? just that year?) but it would be good to find out if they are consistently that high.

I’m a premed at Brown PM if you want additional info. Don’t let Diontechristmas tell you Brown is lame. I think he went to Temple.

how can you pick a school because of a quirky rock? seriously?

the three schools are all very different, so you have to figure out what is your priority (and a rock cannot make the list of pluses).

I always like a pro/con list and then see how everything measures up

A quirky rock? What?

look at Post #3

Oh, I see. I missed that in my initial reading.

BrownBearWhackJob is the poster boy for why you should stay away from Brown at all costs. If they’d let this angry, perverted lunatic in, their standards are seriously slipping. Do yourself a favor and take another look at NW and UNC. You’ll be very glad you did.
