I have been taking all my classes at community colleges and I have 105+ quarter units. I am planning to take one class (5 units) in UCLA this summer. Would that count non-community college unit and make me in danger of too many units(even tho i’m applying to UCs)?
Community college units are lower division and you can only transfer a maximum 70 semester/105 quarter units. The UCLA course would be added to the 105 maximum so you need to stay below the 130 quarter unit maximum.
Lower division non-UC units are capped at 105 quarter units = 70 semester units (but all courses can count for subject credit). UC units and upper division units are then added. You need to keep the total to below 120 quarter units = 80 semester units to avoid being a “high unit junior”, and below 135 quarter units = 90 semester units to avoid being a senior.
