I was accepted to College A at around April but College A was one of my lower choices. Then I got accepted to College B really late in the admission process. The financial aid for the B came really late, it came after I deposited to College A. I decided to attend College B so I send in another deposit to college B. Will I get my admission revoked if these colleges find out? I didn’t know how the financial aid is going to be and I was scared that the financial aid won’t come in time so I deposit to college A as a safety. What should I do?

That’s fine, no worries. You are allowed to withdraw after making a deposit (forfeiting your deposit, of course) but you NEED to notify the college that you no longer want to attend ASAP.

Yeah, I know that. The bad thing is I didn’t know until someone reminded me today. So, I didn’t notify that school yet and it has been around 1.75 months.

I’d just tell them that you got off a waitlist and will enroll elsewhere. Should be good enough.

I didn’t get off the waitlist though…=/

I just got a really late acceptance from a better state school

Then don’t use the word waitlist. Say that you got a “late acceptance.” But do notify them!!!

Thank You! I’m just worried that they will ask me which college and will find out that I didn’t notify them earlier. Also, College A asked me to send in my health forms and I thought it was required, so I did so. I don’t want them to think I’m leading them on

It’s really no big deal. You didn’t do anything intentionally bad. Just explain to them what you told us here but don’t give a specific time frame and you should be good to go.

Just tell College A that something came up and you can’t go there. If they ask why, just say personal issues. It’s no big deal!

Don’t worry, you will not get any admission revoked. Inform the schools ASAP however.

I don’t think I will if I didn’t contact them and asked about the health forms. I contacted them in like mid June and said I will send it in and I did. I’m mad worried now. They will think that I’m leading them on because I got my financial aid from school B in like May

Do yourself a favor and just stop freaking out for a minute. Read what these people have responded thus far. Guarenteed, the people who have responded have some understanding of what they are talking about. Instead of freaking out even more, listen to them. Since today is the 4th of July, admissions offices are most likely not open. Call them tomorrow. Tell the college you won’t be attending that something came up and you won’t be attending. It doesn’t matter if you sent in the health forms already. Things like this happen all the time. They won’t take it personally, your admissions won’t be rescinded at either school (people dual enroll often), and just move on. It’s fine. You’ll be fine. Chilllllllll.
