Would i get points taken off my essay for talking about Michael Jackson?

<p>Is there any chance I could lose points on my essay by talking about Michael Jackson on my SAT essay?</p>

<p>You will not get points off for talking about Michael Jackson. You will get points off for talking about Michael Jackson if your example or your discussion about him is not relevant or pertinent to your essay. Your discussion of Michael Jackson, if well written and if it fits the topic and supports your argument well, will actually help your essay. It doesn’t matter what you use to support your argument, it only matters that your “evidence” works and that you write the essay well and show complexity.</p>

<p>You could talk about killing babies and not get it counted off. But only if it related to the prompt… in this case “Is killing ever justified?” or something silly like that</p>

<p>Oh my gosh… so sad! He was only 50! I wish his life hadn’t been so full of drama and scrutiny. People are really cruel and I think he was an amazing person!</p>

<p>I’m sure the essay readers were stunned by your prophetic manner. “Wow, he wrote about Jacko the day before he died…Coincidence? I think not; this kid is something special. 6/6”</p>

<p>I used religion and got a 10. I couldn’t think up of very solid arguments so I used what I had… I think if you are stuck or low on ideas, religion can be a decent way to keep on writing.</p>

<p>I wrote about my role model Chuck Bass and soccer and ended up with 11 !</p>

so i ended up using a personal account, and then j-lo and micheal phelps haha.</p>
