Would I have a chance at Princeton or Dartmouth?

<p>And, what could I do to better my chances? Thanks!</p>

<p>I’m currently taking 5 AP’s (I’m a Junior), and I took one last year. I plan on taking another 5 my senior year, possibly 6 if I my GLC allows me to.</p>

<p>I get A’s and B’s but I usually get one or two B’s every year.
I go to a public school, it’s fairly decent. I forget the exact rankings but it’s top 80 or so in California.
I plan to get 4’s and 5’s on my AP tests.
I got a 2000 on my first SAT, and I’m taking it again in Jan. I plan to get around a 2100-2200?</p>

<p>For extra curriculars, I’m very active in two clubs at my school and I’m an officer in one of those. I was part of prom/class committee. I’ve tested into level 8 of the CM (piano) and I do some more outside volunteer activites as well. I’ve applied to volunteer at a hospital and law firm, and I’m likely going to get a job next semester as well.</p>

<p>To have a reasonable shot at these schools, you’d need to generally be in the top 5% of your class, have a 2250+ SAT and show real leadership roles in your ECs and community service work. Holding a title or two in a school club won’t generally be enough – you need to be able to demonstrate some actual accomplishment, ideally in a regional, state or national setting.</p>

<p>Even if you exceed all the minimums above, it will a be challenge to get accepted. So if you try, don’t forget to also build a laddered selection of schools with acceptance rates up to 30-35% plus a safety school you would be happy to attend. Then try your best and see what happens.</p>
